Beautiful Winter Wedding at Dumfries House, Scotland

Ellie & James, Dumfries House, Scotland

Dumfries House Wedding

I initially met Ellie and James at The Scottish Wedding Show in Glasgow and I was immediately drawn to their personalities, so I was really interested in photographing their wedding. In addition, they were getting married at one of my favourite Scottish wedding venues, which was a major bonus.

Winter weddings in Scotland can be challenging. In fact, the last winter wedding that I shot at Dumfries House there were thunder storms all day and we couldn’t get outside. Luckily, the venue has such beautiful interiors there are worse places to be stuck inside, so that didn’t worry me.

This certainly wasn’t the case for Ellie and James. As you will see from the photographs, they were lucky enough to get a perfect winter day… snow/ice in the morning followed by beautiful blue skies and the most phenomenal light.

Ellie and James are such an awesome couple. James is from Australia so a lot of his family travelled all the way across for the occasion. The atmosphere throughout the day was incredible and everything just flowed so naturally. This was due to a combination of Ellie and James’ chilled personalities, their amazing guests, their choice of awesome suppliers and the flawless running of the show by the staff at Dumfries House.

Speaking of suppliers, here’s a big shout out to all of the major players:

Ellie and James were also so kind to leave me such an amazing and thoughtful review…

“10/10. David was excellent from start to finish. He made us feel so comfortable and the photos are just stunning. We were in regular contact in the run up to the wedding which was great, he answered all our questions promptly. We got the photos in great time after the wedding too! Couldn’t recommend highly enough.”
