Elopement Photography in Glasgow, Edinburgh & Beyond

Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.
— Robert Burns
Laughing bride and groom Brothers Point

I’m David, an experienced elopement photographer based in Glasgow. Photographing adventurous couples who want to have a stripped-back wedding experience, surrounded by the beauty of Scotland, is something that I truly love.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph many weddings and elopements throughout Scotland, including in Edinburgh, a particularly popular elopement destination that I love travelling to for work. Each and every elopement, wherever it may be, has been such a special experience. They combine all of my passions… photography, travelling, hiking and the company of like-minded people.

So strap on your boots, take your partner by the hand, and let’s have a truly unique experience!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do we legally elope in Scotland?

  1. Scotland allows couples to marry anywhere outdoors with a registered celebrant. You’ll need to submit a Marriage Notice (M10 form) at least 29 days in advance. Take a look at my guide to Scottish elopements to find out more.

Q. Can we bring a few guests?

  1. Absolutely! Elopements can be just the two of you, but you’re welcome to bring close family or friends for an intimate celebration.

Q. How far in advance do we need to book?

  1. I recommend booking your elopement photography at least 6 to 12 months in advance, especially if you're planning to elope during peak wedding season (spring and summer) or in popular locations like Glencoe or the Isle of Skye. However, I do take last-minute bookings if my schedule allows—so if you've decided to elope spontaneously, feel free to reach out!

Q. Where is the best place to elope in Edinburgh?

  1. That’s a great question, and it really depends on what you are looking for! Edinburgh is one of the country’s most popular destinations for elopements, offering a unique mix of history, romance, and easy access. Within the city itself, you'll find a variety of stunning locations, from the iconic Edinburgh Castle to the serene beauty of the Royal Botanic Garden. Consider also the charming streets of the Old Town or the more secluded spots in Holyrood Park. Wherever you decide, I’d be honoured to offer you natural elopement photography in Edinburgh.
