Ardross Castle Wedding

Charlotte & Jamie - Ardross Castle, Alness, Scotland

Ardross Castle Wedding

I was really looking forward to photographing Charlie and Jamie’s wedding. It had all of the ingredients that I think make an incredible celebration. An amazing, thoughtful and fun couple. Check. An unbelievable Scottish castle. Check. An outdoor ceremony. Check. Travelling to an unknown and remote location. Check. These are just the things that I knew about in advance, so when you add in all of the wonderful guests and all of those moments of spontinaty, it ended up being one of my favourite ever weddings.

Having said all of this, it was raining very heavily when I arrived at this jaw dropping castle and I was nervous that the planned outdoor ceremony wasn’t going to go ahead. But as you’ll see from the photos, the skies cleared, the sun came out and the chairs were taken outside. It would appear that luck was on Charlie and Jamie’s side.

The interiors and exteriors of Ardross Castle are something else. If anyone reading this is considering an epic wedding at one of Scotland’s most beautifully restored castles, then this place is a must see.

Since originally writing this blog, the castle has featured in the amazing BBC gameshow, The Traitors. It was so awesome to see such an amazing venue on the telly. It made me relive the weddings that I’ve shot there and see the castle in a whole new light.

They were kind enough to leave me an overwhelming 5 star review:

“David is a legend! The memories we hold of our wedding are precious and they are each accompanied by some incredible photographs by David. We are not a couple who thrive in the spotlight but David made each moment of being photographed relaxing, natural and he captured the exact vision we had for our day. From our first skype call to receiving the final shots, David's eye for a great frame, the quality of his service and interpretation of what we wanted was top class. He captured us, our wedding party, the expressions, the details and the moments we never want to forget perfectly. Others would be lucky to have him behind the camera for their big day. We cannot recommend him enough.”

Like any wedding, a lot of the success goes down to the couple’s choice of suppliers. Here is Charlie and Jamie’s dream team:
