2023 Wedding Photography Review

A look back over such an incredible year in wedding photography land.

Is that time of the year already!?

I’m afraid so for me as this takes quite a bit of work to pull all of this together! Arghh! It’s been so worth it though. It has been really refreshing and rewarding to look back through all of the weddings that I have been fortunate enough to photograph in Scotland this year.

So many amazing memories!

It’s been so amazing to meet so many incredible, inspiring and beautiful people over 2023. So I must give a shout out first and foremost to all of the couples who booked me to capture the most important day of their lives. I don’t take my role lightly and I am dedicate to provide lasting memories for every single couple. It’s incredibly touching to be chosen to document such important occasions, especially when I’m ask to act as a witness for many of my highland elopements.

Always learning and always pushing myself…

I love being a photography ninja, blend in and document every wedding candidly, but I also always try and be creative and find new ways to bring every picture to life. I’m always experimenting and trying to find new, unique and fun ways to take pictures.

So where have I been this year?

I’ve done a lot of miles, been away from home for days at a time, listened to a lot of podcasts on the road and have sampled many a beer and whisky throughout the country. I’ve travelled to the Isle of Skye, Torridon, Applecross, Glen Affric and Glencoe on several occasions for my favourite thing to do…. wild Scottish elopements. I’ve met couples from all over the world; America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Belgium and Germany to name but a few.

I’ve also shot many bigger weddings at some of my favourite barns, farms, manor houses, castles and hotels, which has be so much fun. I’ve shot at some venues for the first time… just when I thought that I’d been to every wedding in Scotland! It’s always great to discover a venue that is new to me. Being inspired for the first time is always so rewarding.

It’s been crazy hectic at times…

But now that things are starting to slow down for winter, it’s been a fantastic wee project to showcase some of my favourite images from the last 12 months. It’s been very difficult to decide, which you will probably see from the amount that I’m posting here, but what better way to tell my story as a Scottish wedding photographer than to show you a shed load of pictures.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported me this year, especially to my wife and kids, who are getting used to me pretty much going missing in the summer. I’ve decided to take Christmas off this year and I really can’t wait.

I look forward to coming back in early 2024.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

David
